The First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society, the President of the Geographical faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Academician Nikolay Kasimov has become the Honorary Doctor of Voronezh State University (VSU). The solemn ceremony of awarding the title was held on February 14 in the main educational building of the university.

For many years, Nikolay Kasimov has been providing the VSU with methodological assistance in supporting the educational process. He supports the holding of the Olympiad on Ecology and Nature Management, various conferences. Nikolay Kasimov is a member of the editorial board of the journal Vestnik VGU, Series: Geography, Geoecology.

- We award the honorary title to people who make a significant contribution to the development of their industry and higher education. Nikolai Sergeyevich Kasimov is a well-known scientist in Russia and abroad. We are awarded the honorary title of Nikolai Sergeyevich for the great contribution he made to the development of ecological and geographical education in the VSU, - the rector of the University Dmitry Endovitsky said in his welcoming speech.

After the solemn ceremony, Nikolai Kasimov addressed the students with an open lecture on «Geochemistry of the Environment».
