Three hundred children from the different parts of Russia have arrived to the All-Russian Children's Center «Smena», that is situated in the Sukko village. They are the children, who came from the Altai Territory, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Leningrad Region and from 38 other regions as well – the winners of all-Russian and international Olympiads, winners of the contest and activists of the projects of the Russian Geographical Society.

The geographical change was solemnly open by the Honorary President of the Society, academician Vladimir Kotlyakov, the Chairman of the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, the Public Chamber member Ivan Chaika and the General Director of the All-Russian Children`s Center «Smena» Evgeny Nizhnik.

 On the rights of the head of the project – the profile changes of the Russian Geographical Society Ivan Chaika conveyed the message of the President of the Society Sergey Shoygu to the children. There following there is being emphasized in the message: «Geography – is one of those sciences, studying of which helps a person to become intelligent, literate, cultured and educated». And on behalf of himself he wished the participants of the profile change – new victories, exciting activities and unforgettable experiences. The representatives of local branches of the Society came to the fete day of the young geographers as well: Elena Lubashevskaya from Belorechensk, Marina Leonidova from Apsheronsk, Sergey Merzakhanov, Mikhael Arakhelov and Roman Belikov form Tuapse, Evgeny Kambarov and Vladimir Dyachenko from Novorossiysk.

Within the frames of the event there was held the meeting with Honorary President of the Russian Geographical Society Academician Vladimir Kotlyakov. Communication with an outstanding geographer caused a great interest in children: they were giving questions about the history of the Society, current activities and plans for future; the current for the northern mound topic of Arctic exploration was touched upon; special attention was paid to the Youth Movement of the Russian Geographical Society and to the traditions of the legendary organization.

During two weeks children will comprehend the geographical sciences. Under the guidance of scientists they will be engaged in research and creative activity, hiking and trekking are ahead of them, and geographic quests, meteorology classes, geography and ecology as well. And educational meetings and master-classes with famous guests as well: geographers, travelers, forwarders and photojournalists.

The idea of holding of the geographical changes in the best children`s centers of Russia – Orlyonok, Smena, Artek and Ocean was realized for the first time last year and was continued. It made it possible to unite children of all the country, to deepen their knowledge of their Motherland. The project now has its own hymn and continuity of tradition: the young geographers are writing letters to the following participants of the profile changes.
