Geography for All

The international summer school of the Russian Geographical Society "Geography for all" will take place in St. Petersburg from 19 to 26 August. The event is supported by St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO). The year the summer school is aimed at promoting geography.

The participants will work on group projects, which will be evaluated by a professional jury. A winning team will get a chance to implement its project with the assistance and under the auspices of the Society.

As part of the summer school, young professionals will take part in meetings with public figures, journalists, photographers, travelers, TV presenters, lectures by leading Russian and foreign scientists and practitioners, trainings, master classes, geographical quests, team games, and excursions.

 

They will learn about the organization of various events to promote geography, how to present information to a wide audience, and the importance of geography in the everyday life. Young men and women will expand personal, professional and business relations and participate in joint projects with leading experts from different fields of science.

The program will include: meetings with director of the Serbian Center of the Russian Geographical Society, professor Mirolub Milinchich, president of the Greek  Association of Geographers, candidate of geographical sciences Statis Arapostatis, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Science and Life" Elena Lozovskaya, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Vokrug Sveta" Sergey Apresov,  advisor to the President of the Russian Geographical Society on information policy Anastasia Chernobrovina, scriptwriter Alexander Melnik and other figures of science and culture

The summer school of the Russian Geographical Society is a communication platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge about the current state of geographical science between young professionals. For the first time the summer school was held in 2013.
