Golden Mountains of Altai

The ecological and educational camp of the Russian Geographical Society in the Katun State Biosphere Reserve has completed its work. Volunteers from the Moscow, Volgograd, Tomsk and Krasnodar regions, the Republic of Crimea, as well as the Republic of Belarus took part in it.

Katun nature reserve is located in the highlands of the central Altai Mountains of south Siberia. It was founded on June 25, 1991. It is in the UNESCO World Heritage.

During two weeks, from July 30 to August 12, the volunteers worked together with the employees of the reserve on the Multinsky site. The volunteers were engaged in laying out and marking the trail in the area of the waterfall on the river Poperechnaya. They built a ladder on one of the sections of the trail. In addition, the volunteers cleaned the area to Upper Multa Lake, fixed fire sites and chopped firewood.

A tour to the Uymon valley was organized for the participants. In particular, the young people visited the local Museum of History and Culture, the Museum of the Roerichs and the Trade and Exhibition Hall "Gems".

The project has been implemented with the grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.
