The 31st of August at midnight there was completed the acceptance of works for the second photo contest of the Russian Geographical Society «The most beautiful country».
During four and a half months Russian photographers, and the amateurs form other countries have been sending their works for participation in the contest. There were loaded about 110 thousand pictures from 23 thousand people.
The works had been received till the late evening of the 31st of August. Thus, there were loaded the photos from Sakhalin region in the closing seconds of leaving summer.
There appeared three new nominations this year for the photo contest – «Stealing heritage», «Industrial Landscape» and «Precious Russia».
The 1st of September 8, 2016 the independent Expert Commission started the work on the primary selection of images. The Commission consists of famous photographers and the heads of the photo services of our country. The pictures, selected by them, will be released in the final of the photo contest. The names of the members of the Expert Commission will be announced after the primary selection stage is over.
The best photos in each nomination will be chosen by the Jury of the photo contest during their meeting, which will be held the 21st of September.
The works will be evaluated by the President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Shoygu, and the world famous photographs and artists. There are the Chairman of the Jury of the photo contest, Russian photographer of wild nature Sergey Gorshkov, the head of the First Channel Konstantin Ernst, the general director of the Museums of the Moscow Kremlin Elena Gagarina, the film director Timur Bekmambetov, and the winner of the first photo contest "The most beautiful country» Ivan Kislov amongst the members of the Jury of the contest.

After the final meeting of the Jury all the works, having reached the final, will be loaded to the «Gallery» section on the project website. That will become the beginning of open voting, during which all the visitors of the portal photo.rgo.ru will be able to feel themselves the members of the jury and vote for the photo they like. The work, which scored most of your votes, will become the winner of the People's Choice Award, and its author will receive the same reward as the winners of the main nominations.
We would like to remind you that the selection of works is carried out anonymously - studying pictures, the experts and the jury members can see only the pictures themselves, not the names of the authors.
The announcement and awarding ceremony of the winners of the photo contest will take place at the ceremony of the Award of the Russian Geographical Society in the end of the year. The date of the ceremony will be announced later.
