«Polistovsky Reserve – 2017»

The Russian Geographical Society invites all comers aged from 18 to 30 years old to take part in the competitive selection for the Volunteer Camp «Polistovsky Reserve – 2017». The session will take place from the 4-th to the 18-th of August in the Pskov region.

The Polistovsky Reserve was established the 25th of May, 1994 in Bezhanitsky and Loknya Districts of the Pskov Region with the aim of preserving and studying the Polistovo-Lovatskaya system of upland marshes. This marsh system is one of the largest and most valuable marsh systems in Europe. Its area makes about 250 thousand hectares. It is being a natural filter of fresh water, helps to regulate the hydrological regime of the region, ensures the maintenance of biological diversity. A characteristic feature of the Polistovo-Lovatsky bog massif is the abundance of small rivers, streams and lakes.

The volunteers will take part in the creation of an ecological path in the village of Gogolevo, they will develop the concept of excursions in the museum of village life, environmental games and tasks for field activities, and will shoot video clips about the reserve. All participants of the program will also be guided along the excursion routes.

The organizers incur expenses related to travel and accommodation. The volunteers provide meals on their own.
