The athlete spent the whole day walking in the Scandinavian style to beat the Russian record. Dmitry Erokhin set his record in 24 hours with the Scandinavian (or northern) style in the frost 35 degrees below zero. He walked 118 kilometers 650 meters.

There were needed less than two kilometers to set classic national record (more than 121 kilometers). But nevertheless the winter record of minus 35 degrees is a great achievement.

“The most basic food for me is carbohydrates: tea, condensed milk, marmalade, sugar, lemon, tangerines, bananas are light enough. Volunteers served me every 2-3 kilometers. In the evening and at night I drank a cup of coffee every hour instead of tea. This gave me extra energy and allowed to recuperate", said Dmitry Erokhin.

The certified judge of the Russian Federation of Northern Walking watched Dmitry's technical performance and fixed the record. The athlete himself was accompanied by volunteers throughout the journey.

Dmitry flew to Krasnoyarsk on the eve of the XXIX World Winter Universiade, which will be held from 2 to 12 March 2019.

Dmitry Erokhin has twice bypassed the Golden Ring of Russia and crossed Kalmykia and Sakhalin, setting four unofficial records. The main challenge in his career was to participate in the race in the Sahara desert. Dmitry began preparations for that competition in Russia in winter at 15 degrees below zero, while the competition itself took place at 30–50 degrees above zero. Then the athlete ran 230 km.
