The Russian Geographical Society would like to invite children aged from 11 to 17 years (inclusive) to apply for participation in a session of the Russian Geographical Society «The world of discoveries» in the All-Russian Children`s Center «Artek». The session will take place from August 30/31 till September 19/20. We invite children interested in geography, members of various expeditions, winners of contests and Olympiads on geography, ecology, ethnography, local history and other subjects.
The international children`s center «Artek» is the oldest and most famous Russian children's camp. It is located in Gurzuf, on the southern coast of the Crimea, and has been operating since 1925. The name «Artek» is taken from the river of the same name, which flows into the sea near the camp. The children's center consists of 10 camps and several tourist centers.
Lectures and master-classes by famous scientists, travelers, speleologists, and representatives of the media industry will be organized for young geographers as part of the session. Children will present their scientific projects and work with real geographic equipment.
Besides, a saturated tourist program will be prepared for school pupils: young men and girls will have an opportunity to study the history and culture of the peninsula, to visit the Livadia Palace, art galleries, the first in Europe park of lions «Taigan» and an observatory, as well as many other sights of the Crimea.
At the end of the camp shift, all participants of the «World of discoveries» will get diplomas from the Russian Geographical Society, and the best of the best will receive memorable prizes.
