«The Russian World» for the Gulf of Finland

The awarding ceremony of the winners and the laureates of the All-Russian contest of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation «Creating future» took place the 15thof April within the frames of the Moscow International Salon of Education. «The Complex Expedition «Hogland» took second place in «The Russian world» nomination. This nomination is dedicated to promotion of the Russian language abroad with the help of corporate culture and marketing.

The Complex Expedition «Hogland», organized by the Russian Geographical Society with the help of the Federal Grid Company (FGC), UES, has been acting since the year of 2013. The project team is conducting extensive system research of the unique territory – of the last «white spot» on the map of Europe – 14 outer islands of the Gulf of Finland. In 2015, by the 70-years jubilee of the Great Victory – the participants of the expedition found about 200 pieces of military equipment of the first half of the XX century on the islands. The artefacts will their place in exhibitions of military history museums in the country soon.

There are the environmental and restoration works still being conducted on the islands this year, in these works there will participate the students and the volunteers from all over Russia. You may take part in the volunteers` contest on the website of the Russian Geographical Society.
