An exhibition of works of art of President of the Russian Geographical Society, Minister of Defense Segei Shoigu is now open in the National Museum of the Republic of Tuva in Kyzyl.  In his spare time, Sergei Shoigu creates wood sculptures and paints landscapes.

Sergei Shoigu has chosen his native republic for the first presentation as painter and sculptor. His colleagues - defense ministers of the CIS countries – were the first to see his works.

The exhibition presents vases, sculptures and boxes of rather unusual shape. They are made of stone, bronze, copper and wood. Sergei Shoigu does not work with living trees in order to protect nature. For his works he selects fallen trees and birch wart, also called wood “malachite”. Sergei Shoigu often adds metal (bronze or copper) lizards, turtles and bugs to his wood sculptures.

One can also see amazing landscapes of Tuva painted in various techniques and genres. Sergei Shoigu has painted the surrounding nature on canvas since his youth and as museum workers say, still continues to do at rare moments of rest. Sergei Shoigu also paints some landscapes from memory.

The exhibition will run through the end of June.
