The Tiger`s Day

The 24th of September there will be celebrated the Tiger`s Day in Vladivostok. Annually from the year of 2000, the last Sunday of September in the capital of Primorye  there are being held solemn events, dedicated to a rare predator.

The Amur tiger is one of the largest terrestrial predators of our planet and one of the smallest subspecies of the tiger, listed in the Red Book, the only one of his relatives who has mastered life in the snow. 95% of the entire population live in the Russian Far East and 5% - in China. In 1947, the Amur tiger was taken under protection - in the USSR hunting for it was completely banned.

At 12:00 there will begin a festive procession on the Ocean Avenue of Vladivostok. In addition, specialized zones will be open on the central square of the city, where it will be possible to find out about the main character of the holiday and the activities of environmental organizations to preserve it.

So, the theme park of the National Park "Land of the Leopard" will be working here. Children and adults will be able to participate in master classes and competitions, make an original photo with wild cats, create your own leopard from cardboard and get "spotty" prizes.

The National Park "Land of the Leopard" is located in Primorsky Region and covers the Khasan, Ussuri and Nadezhda regions. On the territory of the national park there live Far Eastern leopards, Amur tigers, lynx and Far Eastern forest cats. "Land of the leopard" - is one of the "most tiger" protected areas of Russia. According to the latest accounts, here live about 30 Amur tigers.

In the evening on the central square of the city there will be a festive concert. His headliner will be the Bi-2 group.

The organizers of the festivities are the "Amur Tiger" Center, the Administration of Primorsky Region and the Administration of Vladivostok.

Center "Amur Tiger" was created by the Russian Geographical Society in 2013 on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The main task of the organization is to study, preserve and increase the population of the Amur tiger in Russia with the help of environmental, scientific, educational and cultural-enlightenment projects.
