The last day of the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society was dedicated to the one of the main elements of our planet – water.
On the main stage there was held the creative meeting with the seascapephotographer, the member of the Russian Union of Artists and of the International Federation of Journalists, the participant of three circumnavigations Yury Maslyaev. The audience got to know about the particular features of the marine shooting: what should be the equipment, how to choose the apparatus and treat it in difficult conditions, and of course, about the basics of safety at sea. The event gathered a lot of viewers , who could not let the orator for a long time, wishing to ask him their questions or to get an advice of the professional photojournalist.

The president of the Federation of underwater sports of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Chairman of the branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the Republic of TatarstanDmitry Schiller spoke to the guests of the Festival. He told about the profession of diver, underwater archaeologist, and also presented a large-scale expedition project «The 13 Seas of Russia», which started the 1st of July with the support of the Russian Geographical Society. The divers experienced domestic underwater breathing equipment, gathered unique scientific data, and set new records for the deepest immersion of a man to the sea, washing the shores of Russia as well.

The project has been developed and is being implemented by the underwater research detachment of the Russian Geographical Society jointly with the branch of the Society in Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Underwater Sports Federation of Russia and the Russian Confederation of Underwater Activities.
Within the frames of the Water day there was held the presentation of the «Ecological map of Russia», - the common multimedia project of the Russian Geographical Society and the «RIA News» agency as well. The chief editor of the «RIA The Science» Andrey Reznichenko told about and showed the results of the great work of the specialists. Now the map is available to each owner of a smartphone or the tablet. The main directions of environmental work, which is being carried out in every region of our country are shown there. The modern ecology is very much multi-faceted, and that is why these «dots» as they seem to be, coexist on the map: wind power plants, the sewage treatment plants, being reconstructed, natural monuments and nature reserves, which protect rare species of animals and plants.

Moreover, the day was full with the various events: meeting with the traveler Evgeny Kovalevsky, lecture of the teachers of «Navigation school» about the history of sailing. And young guests took part in educational master-classes «The traditional Russian ornaments: the using of water symbol», and «The field laboratory» as well, where everyone could feel himself the scientist or even to conduct a little research!
