First National Youth Gathering

First National youth gathering of the regional branches of the Russian Geographical Society was held on November 2-6, 2013. 

The Gathering was a great opportunity for young members of the regional branches of the Society to meet people and exchange experiences. And their older colleagues were able to evaluate the work of the regional branches with the younger generation, determine promising directions of development of this activity and to make plans for the future. One of the highlights of the Gathering was the announcement of the launch of the youth movement of the Russian Geographical Society. 

The event took place in the cultural and educational center "Ethnomir" (Kaluga region), which brought together more than 180 delegates from 60 regions of the Russian Federation. Each region introduced a three-man team, which included one adult instructor and two student in grades 7-9. They got to the Gathering after a competition and have a serious list of achievements in the field of geography, local history, ethnography and history in their background.
