The Russian Geographical Society issued the jubilee envelope, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of nature conservation in Russia jointly with the Federal Communications Agency.
Circulation reached one million copies.

The 11th of January, 1917 there was founded on the shore of Lake Baikal the first in the history of Russia state reserve Barguzinskiy. It was crated thanks to the efforts of the members of the Standing Nature Protection Commission of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society. Exactly from the moment of foundation of the Barguzinskiy reserve there started forming of the modern Russian system of Specially Protected Natural Areas, which celebrates in 2017 its centenary. The Year of the Specially Protected Natural Areas in Russia is timed to coincide with the solemn date.
Issuing of the «geographical» envelopes and stamps is dedicated to the significant dates, it is conducted within the framework of the agreement of cooperation of the Russian Geographical Society and Federal Communications Agency.
Thus, there was issued the nominal postcard with the original stamp in honor of the 125th anniversary of the birth of famous polar explorer, the honored member of the Russian Geographical Society Otto Schmidt (circulation - 15 000 copies).

Besides, last year there to go into circulation an envelope and a card, dedicated to the 100s anniversary from the date of commissioning of the Amur bridge and completion of construction of Trans-Siberian Railway, in creating of which the Society had been taking part actively. The ceremonial of putting out the stamp took place during the departure on the first flight of the anniversary train Moscow – Vladivostok.
One more postcard is devoted to the 200th anniversary of Alexei Butakov, a member of the Russian Geographical Society, one of the first researchers of Aral Sea. There is a postcard in the honor of the 75th anniversary of the discovery of the famous Valley of Geysers in the collection of 2016 as well.

There were issued a stamp in the honor of the 170-s anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society (circulation amounted to 12 582 000 copies) and two post stamps, dedicated to the project «The Geographers - to the Great Victory».
And a year earlier was issued a mailing stamped envelope in honor of the 175th anniversary of the birth of the famous Russian explorer and geographer Nikolay Przewalskiy (the general circulation of the release (total circulation of the release amounted one million copies).
