The youth club of the Russian Geographical Society together with Kenozersky national park invites boys and girls aged 14 to 17 to take part in a competition for participation in the youth summer geographical camp "Around the world in 8 days". The event will be held in the protected area of Kenozersky national park from 18 to 26 August 2018.

Children from 14 to 17 years old, interested in geography, participants in various expeditions, winners of competitions in geography, history, ecology, history and other subjects may apply. Active members of the Society's youth clubs may also apply in case they have recommendations from heads of youth clubs.

Kenozersky national park is a protected area, a unique natural and cultural complex, a sample of the North European cultural landscape. Here is the border of the Baltic shield and the Russian platform, the watershed between the basins of the White and Baltic seas. Kenozersky national park may be considered a living culture heritage of ancient Russia.

 

In 2004, Kenozersky national park was included in the UNESCO world network of biosphere Reserves. Kenozerye plays an important role in the preservation of the Northern European avifauna and it is included in the catalog of key ornithological territories of international importance in European Russia.

The camp will be located in the Kargopol sector of Kenozersky national Park, in the most picturesque place of the natural complex, the village of Maselga, 80 km from the ancient city of Kargopol. There you can still find a wonderful combination of untouched nature, unique culture of Ancient Russia and living national traditions of the Russian North.

An interesting program has been prepared for participants: exciting hikes, thematic games, competitions and quests, geographical quizzes, lectures and workshops by leading experts from the national parks of the Arkhangelsk region, meetings with scientists, photographers and travelers, and film shows. Everyone will be able to participate in different projects presents them at the end.
