In Krasnoyarsk Territory, in the area of the construction of the northernmost bridge across the Yenisei River, archaeological work is underway. Several important finds have already been made, including arrowheads, fragments of pottery, bones. Some of them are more than 5 thousand years old.

Everything found underground is carefully freed from dirt and prepared for conservation and further scientific study. Nikolai Drozdov – Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor at the Department of Russian History of the Siberian Federal University, co-chairman of the Historical, Archaeological and Ethnographic Commission of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society – confirms the hypothesis that thousands of years ago Krasnoyarsk Territory was a major center of ancient civilization.

"For Krasnoyarsk Territory, this is an important, but not a rare find. It’s not surprising - today's Krasnoyarsk is one of the most famous territories in the world where the sites of ancient people are located. Over a period of more than 140 years of research, a lot of artifacts have been discovered here. These are stone and bone tools, bones of animals and humans, as well as several Paleolithic sites. For example, using radiocarbon analysis, it was established that the so-called “Afontovo-5” site in Krasnoyarsk proper dates back to 32 thousand years BC," Nikolai Drozdov said.
