The 1st of July there started the receipt of applications for the Award of the Russian Geographical Society in 2016.
The established to promote activities of the Society and increasing interest in the projects in the field of the national geography, ecology, preservation of natural, historical and cultural heritage of Russia, and support of geographical science and education.
The President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Shoygu: «It is fundamentally important to note the specific people – those who are studying our country nowadays and creating its history».
We are waiting for the bright results of the scientific research; outstanding expedition projects; innovative ideas in the field of education and enlightenment, which you have realized; science-fiction films, which open the world of science and geography; publications, allowing to expand the horizons of the usual, and other projects dedicated to the geography, ecology, ethnography, history and culture of Russia as well.
The Award is being handed in for the achievements and projects, successfully brought to life. It is being held once every two years and has an international status. A citizen or organization from anywhere in the world may apply for the award, provided that their projects are dedicated to Russia.
Applications are regarded in the following nominations:
1. Expeditions;
2. Scientific research;
3. Education and awareness;
4. Promotion of natural, historical and cultural heritage of Russia;
5. Public acceptance.
The description of the nominations, the timing, requirements for applications and other details are given in the Concept of the Award.
The finalists of the Award are being determined by the Jury, being headed by the President of the Society Sergey Shoygu. The Jury consists of the vice-presidents of the Russian Geographical Society Arthur Chilingarov and Nikolay Kasimov, and other famous scientists, public figures, representatives of culture and art as well.
Accepting applications for the Award is conducted from the 1st of July to the 20th of September, 2016.
The Awarding Ceremony will be held at the end of the year. It will be announced about the time and date of the ceremony additionally.
The winners will receive cash prizes.
