Today, the 20th of November, at 12:00 by local time there started the second All-Russian Geographical Dictation.
This year the educational action of the Russian Geographical Society became more scale: there were 210 regional sets for Dictation countrywide last year, their number reached 1700 this year!

The participants had an opportunity to check your geographical knowledge in the universities, libraries, scientific institutions, children`s centers and other institutions at 12:00 by local time. The leader in the number of sets became the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), where the dictation was be written at more than 658 points. There were working 103 sets in the Republic of Bashkortostan, and 63 in Samara region, 41 in Tver, and 48 sets in Moscow.
Besides, there was an opportunity to take part in the online version of the Dictation – on the following website: dictant.rgo.ru. It started the 20th of November at 14:00 by Moscow time and will last till the 23rd of November inclusively and it will end at 14:00 (by Moscow time).
There had taken part in the online Dictation more than 26 thousand people for the first 4 hours since its beginning.
The main set of the Dictation
The central set for the Dictation became the main building of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. In spite of Sunday, the classrooms №01 and №02 could hardly accommodate all the participants. The President of the Society Sergey Shoygu was answering the questions of the Dictation together with all.

TV-presenter Nikolay Drozdov, two-time Olympic champions Vyacheslav Fetisov, Yelena Isinbayeva and Svetlana Ishmuratova took part in this action as well, and the Honored President of the Russian Geographical Society, academician Vladimir Kotlyakov, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Sergey Dobrolyubov and other celebrities.

Dmitry Guberniev became the narrator of the Dictation. Before giving a signal to the beginning of the Dictation, the TV-presenter and sports commentator suggested the participants training and answering the questions of geographic quiz, the winners of which will get the prizes from the Russian Geographical Society. Then sounded the signal to start the Dictation.

The tasks
The participants had to answer 30 questions for 45 minutes, the questions were displayed on the big screen and were accompanied by the illustrations. The tasks were synchronized by the voices known by all the country, such as the voice of the actor of theater and cinema, honored artist of Russia Sergey Chonishvili, and the TV-presenter of the «Rossia 1» TV-channel, the Advisor to the President of the Russian Geographical Society on Information Policy Anastasia Chernobrovina.

As it was made the last year, the questions were divided to three blocks: determination of geographic concepts and terms according to their description; determination of geographic objects on the map and the ability to apply knowledge in practice; determination of geographic objects by a fragment of a literary work.
The highest score, which can be received for the dictation makes 100 points.
«Today`s Dictation contains very interesting questions. I hope we have answered a half at least anyway», - the President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Shoygu noted. Then he thanked everyone who took part in the Dictation: «They are indifferent people, who love our country, they are people who wish to know more about it».
How can you get your result?
The participants of the Dictation, who were taking part in it internally, can get to know their personal result by a unique identification number, having been received on the sets – after the 20th of December on the website of the Russian Geographical Society.

Those who took part in the Dictation online, will manage to see the results immediately after the responses to questions.
An analytical report assessing the geographic literacy of the population of Russia as a whole and its individual age groups and the results of the Dictation in the subjects of the Russian Federation will be prepared according to the results of the Dictation.
We would like to remind you that the first All-Russian Geographical Dictation took place on the initiative of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin the 1st of November, 2015 on 210 regional sets in all the subjects of the Russian Federation. More than 70 thousand people took part in this action.
