On June 10, 2022, an introductory conference dedicated to the opening of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Armenia began in Yerevan. The participants of the event were greeted by the First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society Artur Chilingarov, who noted the historical importance and relevance of this event for both countries and their peoples.
"The opening of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Yerevan is a great event in the scientific, cultural, and educational life of the two countries. There are great opportunities and prospects for cooperation on a wide range of issues – from improving the forms of tourist and local history activities to acquiring geographical knowledge, environmental education, and organizing cultural leisure and recreation activities for children. All this is becoming increasingly important and relevant in the current international situation, when the struggle for the minds and hearts of the younger generation is escalating, and influential forces in the West are trying to impose orders alien to their way of life, culture, and historical traditions on other countries. I have no doubt that the activities of the Center will contribute to strengthening the unity of the Russian-Armenian community and will make a significant contribution to the ethno-cultural development of our peoples. I wish you success and all the best!" says the text of the address of the First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society Artur Chilingarov.
