Conference Dedicated to Opening of the RGS Center in Armenia Starts in Yerevan

On June 10, 2022, an introductory conference dedicated to the opening of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Armenia began in Yerevan. The participants of the event were greeted by the First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society Artur Chilingarov, who noted the historical importance and relevance of this event for both countries and their peoples.

"The opening of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Yerevan is a great event in the scientific, cultural, and educational life of the two countries. There are great opportunities and prospects for cooperation on a wide range of issues – from improving the forms of tourist and local history activities to acquiring geographical knowledge, environmental education, and organizing cultural leisure and recreation activities for children. All this is becoming increasingly important and relevant in the current international situation, when the struggle for the minds and hearts of the younger generation is escalating, and influential forces in the West are trying to impose orders alien to their way of life, culture, and historical traditions on other countries. I have no doubt that the activities of the Center will contribute to strengthening the unity of the Russian-Armenian community and will make a significant contribution to the ethno-cultural development of our peoples. I wish you success and all the best!" says the text of the address of the First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society Artur Chilingarov.

The main topics of the conference, which will be held at the Metropol Hotel in Yerevan, will be: improvement in tourism; improvement of forms and types of tourist and local history activities (field activities, tourist and health camps, hiking, expeditions, competitions, festivals, excursions, conferences); environmental education; information and methodological support for children's and youth tourism; interaction problems of businesses, state and public institutions for the development of ecological and expedition tourism; sociological, pedagogical, psychological, medical, biological, geographical aspects of the development of youth tourism with educational programs, with cultural programs in Russian and Armenian.

The purpose of the conference is to develop practical recommendations and proposals on innovative approaches in tourism activities; to create a system of effective socio-economic, ecological models of harmonious interstate development within the framework of the implementation of the program of ecological, cultural, tourist cooperation.

The conference will be attended by leading Russian scientists in the field of youth tourism, ecology, culture and recreation, specialists, practitioners, local historians, representatives of relevant government agencies, heads of businesses involved in organizing children's recreation.
