The finalists of the IX Photo Contest "The Most Beautiful Country", which is held annually by the Russian Geographical Society, were determined by the Expert Commission. 13 professional photographers and photo editors selected 100 works in 10 main categories, as well as 20 works in the contest "The Most Beautiful Country through the Eyes of Children" (four categories).
The largest Russian wildlife photo contest always attracts with spectacular and emotional works that leave no one indifferent. And now everyone can be inspired by the creativity of the finalists and support their favorite works during the online voting. It runs from May 15 to May 28. According to the results, the winner of the People’s Choice Award be determined. They will receive 100,000 rubles.
In 2023, 8,755 people took part in the contest, which is 50% more than in 2022. In total, more than 60,000 works were received, which exceeds last year's figure by almost a third. Most of the pictures were traditionally submitted in the category "Landscape" and in the newly introduced "Taken on a Smartphone" – 20,000 photos each.
“I have been in the Expert Commission of the contest ‘The Most Beautiful Country’ several times now, and over the years I have only observed a constant increase in the number of interesting pictures,” photographer Dmitry Pitenin shared his impressions.
The announcement of the winners and the award ceremony will take place in October, 2023. The winners in the main categories will receive 250,000 rubles each. The works of all finalists will be published in a colorful photo album and will take part in exhibitions around the world.
