Do you agree with the statement that walls are the best canvas for an artist? Or perhaps, you have long been attracted by spray painting techniques? Then the all-Russian graffiti contest is for you!
Graffiti artists from any Russian region can participate in this creative competition of the Russian Geographical Society. Photos of finished graffiti sketches painted on buildings and other objects of the urban infrastructure are accepted. Street art drawings should correspond to the theme of natural, historical and cultural heritage of Russia.
Applications with attached photos of graffiti sketches should be sent to email: graffitirgo.ru till October 31, 2018.
Each entrant can send no more than five works to the contest. At least three photographs of each graffiti image are required (JPEG, resolution of 1920 pixels on the long side). Pictures should have detailed descriptions (name and contact information of the author, date when the image was created, etc.)
Finalists will be selected in November 2018. The winner will be announced on the website of the Russian Geographical Society (www.rgo.ru) in December 2018. The winner will also receive a cash prize of 50 thousand rubles.
Let’s remind that since 2016 the Society has put thematic graffiti drawings in different cities of this country. Thus, an image of a polar owl from Wrangel Island, based on the photo of Sergei Gorshkov, appeared at the corner of Arbat and Serebryany pereulok in Moscow. In March 2017, "Little Varg" appeared on the wall at the entrance to the metro station "Tretyakovskaya". This is an image of a boy and his faithful friend – a hand peregrine falcon. The photo was taken on the Taz Peninsula by photographer Alexander Romanov.
Within the III Festival of the Russian Geographical Society, a graffiti contest was also held. The best artist from those who painted sketches during the festival was Maxim Kasatkin and his picture "The Soul of Russia". This image is planned to become an art object in one of the Russian cities.
