Venue registration for the Geographical Dictation has been extended until November 20. Everyone who wanted to, but did not have time to register their venue for the event, will be able to do this until the night of next Friday.
On November 29, at 12.00 local time, the sixth Geographical Dictation will take place - a large-scale international event aimed at popularizing geographical knowledge and increasing interest in Russian geography around the world. This year it will be possible to write it in person or remotely at specialized venues. In addition, everyone can take part in the Dictation online at dictant.rgo.ru. It starts on the same day as the offline Dictation, on November 29 at 14:00 Moscow time, and will last until 14:00 (Moscow time) on December 6, 2020. You can find out your result immediately after passing the test. No prior registration is required for this.

This is the sixth educational campaign. Last year, the Dictation was held at 5469 venues in all regions of Russia, as well as in 106 foreign countries. The knowledge of geography was tested on all continents, except Antarctica, and even on the International Space Station. About 330 thousand people took part in the event in person, more than 100 thousand wrote the Dictation online. Thus, the total number of participants in the event in 2019 was about 430 thousand people, which is 1.2 times higher than the result of 2018.
At the moment, the number of registered venues has exceeded 5000. Traditionally, the Dictation sites are organized in schools, universities, libraries, museums, reserves and many other places. Among the most unusual venues of the event in different years were the ship-museum "Cruiser ‘Aurora’", the Mission Control Center, oil platforms in the Caspian Sea. For example, this year the Dictation will be written on the "Akademik Lomonosov" power barge in the city of Pevek, and at the visit center of the State Reserve “Komandorskiy” " in the village of Nikolskoye, Kamchatka Territory.
You still have time to register a Dictation venue! To do this, you need to register on the website dictant.rgo.ru and fill in the relevant information. All applications submitted before 23:59:59 (Moscow time) on November 20 will be considered.

We would like to remind you that in the event of a worsening epidemiological situation due to the coronavirus COVID-19, the on-site venues of the Geographical Dictation will be able to conduct the event remotely. If necessary, by November 23, the venue organizer will be able to quickly change the format of the event from on-site to remote. It will be possible to conduct a remote Dictation only on November 29 from 12:00 to 13:00 local time. Participants who have pre-registered on the venue will receive a special link. By clicking on it, they will receive everything they need to write the Dictation without leaving home, including an individual questionnaire, a video presentation with the Dictation tasks, an answer form and an individual number in order to find out their results in the future.

At the moment, you can familiarize yourself with the demo version of the Geographical Dictation - 2020. It is as close as possible to the format of the upcoming event: the demo of the dictation also consists of two parts, the writing time is limited to 45 minutes. Along with questions from eminent experts, the demo version included assignments sent by the participants of the "Write a question for the Geographical Dictation" competition. Try to answer the questions without hints! You can find out your result immediately after completing all the tasks.
