Gold and Two Silver: Hong Kong Completed the International School Geography Olympiad (iGeo-2019)

The 16th International Geography Olympiad (iGeo-2019) has ended in Hong Kong. The Russian team won three medals: Lada Antonova from Moscow recieved the gold, the silver went to Mikhail Balaban from Saratov and Katarina Mechnikova from Moscow. Three team members have already entered  the Faculty of Geography Lomonosov of Moscow State University.

The leaders of the team are Pavel Kirillov and Nikita Mozgunov (employees of the Geographical Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University).

The competition program of the Olympiad consisted of three rounds: a theoretical round, a practical round and a multimedia test.
The questions of the theoretical test were mainly devoted to physical and geographical topics. The practical tour combined the tasks of collecting information and mapping. The multimedia test included 40 diverse geographical issues using photographs, maps, audio and video.
Team members in all rounds showed good results.

The training of the members of the Russian team for the International Olympiad (it is traditionally supported by the Russian Geographical Society) was carried out in the Tver region under the guidance of the members of the Central Subject Methodological Commission of the Ministry of Education - Dmitry Bogachev and Anna Romashina.
