There has started the receipt of applications for the targeted grants, initiative grants and grants of the regional offices of the Russian Geographical Society in 2018. The application campaign will last from the 15th of September to the 23rd of October, 2017.
We would like to pay your attention to the fact that the receipt of applications for the media grants of the Russian Geographical Society is planned for January – February of 2018 (the exact dates will be reported additionally).
Any person or organization can apply for a grant. Applications are accepted only through a single electronic system on the website grant.rgo.ru. Only registered users may apply.
The categories of the grants
• Targeted grants are aimed at supporting projects, formed within the framework of subjects proposed by the donors.
• Initiative grants are aimed at supporting projects initiated by the President of the Society, the members of the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council, as well as councils and commissions of the Society.
• The grants of the regional branches are aimed at supporting projects submitted by the regional branches of the Society.
• Mediagrants are directed to media support of projects of the Russian Geographical Society from among regional, targeted, initiative, as well as projects in the field of popularization of geographical knowledge and the activities of the Society (independent media).

Requests for initiative grants must necessarily contain a support letter from members of the Board of Trustees or the Governing Board or a protocol on the nomination of the project from the boards and commissions of the Society.
Grants of regional branches are preliminarily examined by regional experts.
The Media Council is considering grants for media support of the projects of the Russian Geographical Society from among regional, targeted, initiative ones, and applications for independent media grants as well.

The main criteria of the grant competition
•Openness for accepting applications and equal access to grants.
•Transparency of the procedure for consideration of applications.
•Support projects on the principles of co-financing.
•Prospects for further implementation of the project after the end of the grant financing.
•The grant is funded for a period of one year.
•The name and content of the grant should not coincide with the name and content of any planned research work performed in the organization and financed from the federal budget.
•The size of the salary fund under the grant should not exceed 65% in the nomination "Conducting theoretical and applied scientific research" and 50% for all other nominations (including all taxes and fees).
