Divers from the underwater research center “Drugoye Izmereniye” (eng. "Another Dimension") and the Gomel Diving Center will conduct a joint expedition "Along the Roads of Military Glory" on Lake Klukhorskoye in Teberda National Park. The participants of the project, which received the support of the Russian Geographical Society, are going to set new world records for Geographer's Day.

The project was organized by Yuri Kashin, a member of the Mostovsky District Branch of the RGS, and Konstantin Izotov, a member of the Moscow Branch of the RGS. The route of the expedition will run along the Sukhumi Military Road, where on the Klukhorsky Pass at an altitude of almost 3,000 meters above sea level in August 1942, units of the Red Army engaged in battle with the Nazi invaders. Divers will dive into the largest lake in terms of water surface area and the second deepest lake in Teberda National Park.

“After our performance in the ‘Heroes of the Deep’ category at the Moscow Dive Show in the spring of 2024, we thought about a new expedition. We will dive into Lake Klukhorskoye, at the bottom of which we expect to find artifacts left after the Great Patriotic War,” said Yuri Kashin.

The expedition participants will assess the ecological condition of the water area and plan to set a number of Russian and world records for diving in the highlands. Applications for records have been approved by an international agency.

The expedition will include Elena Kashina, 13-year-old Andrey and 10-year-old Mikhail Kashin, 10-year-old Pavel Izotov. Almost all of them had previously participated in record-breaking high-altitude dives. Also in the group will be a cameraman, a guide, the head of the photo club "Factor" Sergei Leksin, and a member of the Stavropol Regional Branch of the RGS, the head of the “Kavkaz Secrets” sightseeing tour agency Roman Fenkov, as well as the standby diver Sergei Litvinov and driver Mikhail Bochka.

“These places are steeped in the military glory of the Russian and Soviet troops from the Russian-Turkish and Great Patriotic Wars. With the expedition, we want to emphasize the continuity of generations of defenders of the Fatherland, the upbringing of the younger generation of patriots of Russia," Yuri Kashin added.
