Internal tourism development in Russia

The 17th of February, 2016 in the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow took place meeting of the Intellectual Club of the Society. The theme of the meeting was «Development of domestic tourism in Russia: support of popular tourist destinations or organizing of new?».

To give the competitive nature to the discussion, and to give an opportunity all the participants to speak out, all who gathered there were divided to 4 teams. Amongst those who came there were specialists in this subject, and just interested people as well.

The proposed thesis young people were discussing within the team in the beginning, after that representatives of each of them were expressing the point of view of their collective. The presentations were evaluated by authoritative experts, amongst which there were the Head of the Department of Recreation Geography and Tourism of the Faculty of geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Kruzhalin, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Elena Filatova, the head of the expert council of the State Duma on domestic and inbound tourism in Russia Sergey Krivonosov and deputy director of the Institute of History and Politics of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Vladimir Shapovalov.

The discussion found out to be informative and interesting. The participants expressed their position on the priorities for inbound and domestic tourism, support of existing tourist routes from the side of the government, and tourism development on the specially protected natural territories as well. The main subject of the meeting was the following: popular tourist routes support or creation of new ones? The question was put to the total voting. The majority of participants spoke out for the creation of new routes, that coincided with the opinion of the expert team as well.

Summing up the results, the experts agreed that the most successful in answering the questions of the meeting was the team number 4, which consisted of the students of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Yulia Demidova, Alena Zhezhy, Daria Kirutina, Danata Minkshun and Alina Lotovchenko.

The organizer of the event – is the Youth Center of the Russian Geographical Society with the participation of Coordinating Council on Youth in the scientific and educational spheres under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education and the Faculty of global processes of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
