The 3th of November of 2015 in the Arctic day at the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society there were summarized the results of the contest amongst the students of Russian Universities for the right to participate in the First International Arctic Students` Forum, which is planned to be held in the period from 24 to 29 of January, 2016 in in Tromso (Norway) in the framework of international conference «The Arctic frontiers – 2016». The contest was held with the support of the Norwegian Barents Secretariat.

The Managing Director of the Norwegian research company The Akvaplan Niva Salve Dahle and the adviser to the President of the Russian Geographical Society on international affairs Sergey Katikov addressed to the audience and the winners of the contest with a greeting word from the main stage of the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society.

In particular, it was noticed that there were received by the organizers of the contest more than 200 works from 23 Russian Universities, geography of which stretches from Murmansk to Vladivostok. There were amongst them the works from «exotic» from point of view of Arctic research universities as The South Federal University, situated in Rostov-on-Don, but the content of the presentations are fully complied with the conditions of competition. The organizers were pleasantly surprised with the quality of works of participants, who are being the students of Bachelor and Master study programs, and often it happens that they are making their first steps in the field of conducting Arctic research.

10 winners were selected according to the results of the contest, they will directly participate in The First International Arctic Students` Forum as the spokespersons, and also the works of 20 finalists will be presented at the forthcoming event in the form of posters.

Unfortunately only 6 winners and finalists were able to come to the awarding ceremony because of the broad geography of the contest:

         - Anna Nikolaichik, Northern (Arctic) Federal University;

         - Eugeniya Suverina, Moscow State Construction University;

         - Daniil Tislenko, St. Petersburg State University;

         - Timothy Yuzhakov, Tyumen State University;

         - Sergey Zakrytnoy,  Moscow State Institute of International Relations;

         - Anna Nizamova, Moscow State University of Technology and management.

The students were handled in the diplomas and memorable prizes from the organizers. The names of the winners and the finalists of the competition will be announced on the website of the Russian Geographical Society the 10th of November.
