Now the schoolchildren will be helped to comprehend the basics of geographical science by atlases and contour maps, which have been examined by the experts of the Russian Geographical Society.

Benefits for studying the geography at school were published in the publishing house «BINOM.The Laboratory of Knowledge» («Enlightenment») with a total circulation of 222,000 copies. The edition was thoroughly tested under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Geographical Society on Geographical and Environmental Education. It included leading experts who specialize in different areas of geographical knowledge.

As Vladimir Putin said at the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society in April, 2017, «studying of geography at school is necessary for the formation of patriotism and national identity».

During the review of the school atlases and contour maps for grades 5-11, the editions have been adjusted and supplemented. The experts verified factual and statistical information, geographical names, display of borders, and the data requiring updates as well. The design and content were verified taking into account the highest standards of domestic education.

New atlases and contour maps will help students to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge. In a visual form there are presented information on the depth of lakes, the length of rivers and the height of the mountains, location of the planets of the solar system and much more. With the help of new editions, students will have the opportunity to conduct independent research, to reflect and to analyze sources of information.
The atlases and contour maps can be used with any educational publication on geography, included in the Federal list of textbooks. They are recommended for use when conducting VPR, OGE and USE.
