Ilya Gurov, First Deputy Executive Director of the Russian Geographical Society, spoke at the meeting of the Chinese-Russian Joint Committee for Scientific, Technical, and Humanitarian Exchange. Within the framework of the section devoted to cooperation between geographical societies of Russia and China, he spoke about successfully implemented joint projects – student exchanges, expeditions, exhibitions, conferences, and forums, emphasizing the high level of interaction between the two organizations.
The third meeting of the Chinese-Russian Joint Committee for Scientific, Technical, and Humanitarian Exchange took place on November 1, 2023 in Harbin, China, in a hybrid format. The event was organized by the International Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations and the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Representatives of the scientific and educational community, business and public organizations took an active part in its work.
Sergey Drukarenko, First Vice-President of the International Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations, and Luo Hui, Head of the International Affairs Department of CAST, addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech.
Vice-President and Secretary General of the Chinese Geographical Society Guoyou Zhang also spoke in the thematic section devoted to cooperation between geographical societies of Russia and China. The parties paid special attention to cooperation in the educational direction. Initiatives aimed at popularizing geography and related sciences are being implemented in this area.
Ilya Gurov thanked the Chinese Geographical Society for its regular assistance in preparing the Geographical Dictation adapted, among other things, for the Chinese audience. First Deputy Executive Director of the Russian Geographical Society invited those present to join the large-scale event of the Russian Geographical Society on November 19, 2023.
