December 16, Russian Minister of Defense, President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu presented monuments dedicated to the heroes of World War I and World War II. The presentation was held near the group of buildings of the Defense Ministry on Frunzenskaya Naberezhnaya.
"Today we are presenting two monuments at the same time - a monument to the soldiers-heroes who protected our country 100 years ago, during World War I and a monument to those who protected it during World War II.
I am grateful to sculptors and artists of Grekov Studio, the people who put their heart and soul into this project, which is very important for the Armed Forces, the Army and the country as a whole. Of course, they did everything to perpetuate the memory of our fathers and grandfathers, the memory of all those who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.
I am sure that these wonderful monuments will encourage new generations to new feats in the name and for the good of our country. And, of course, they will be a constant reminder of what the previous generation has done, of those feats they committed for the good of our country, "- said the Minister.
Monuments, installed at the main entrance to the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, were created by sculptors of Grekov Studio of Military artists under the leadership of the People's Artist of Russia Mikhail Pereyaslavets. The size of each composition is about 11 meters in length and about 9 meters in height.
Special envelopes dedicated to the monuments were released. First copies were solemnly handed to Sergei Shoigu. A million copies have been printed and they are available in all post offices of Russia.
