At midnight on August 15, the reception of works for the third photo contest of the Russian Geographical Society "The Most Beautiful Country" was completed.
For half a year the Russian photographers, as well as amateur photographers from other countries, had been sending their works for participation in the contest. A total of about 50,000 images were uploaded to the project website.
This year there are four new nominations for the photo contest: "Russia from a bird's eye view", "From the sunset to dawn", "Caves of Russia", "Cultural heritage of Russia". There are already well-known nominations of the photo contest: "Peoples of Russia", "The most beautiful country. The landscape», «The world is in our hands», «Wild animals», «Undersea world», «The birds», «Macromir "," Young Photographer "and" Audience Choice Award ".
Since the 16th of August, an independent Expert Commission, consisting of famous photographers and heads of the largest photo services of our country, has started work on the initial selection of images. The pictures, chosen by them, will go to the final of the photo contest. The names of the members of the Expert Commission will be announced after the initial selection.
The best photos in each category will be chosen by the jury of the photo contest during the meeting, which will be held on the 12th of September.
The President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Shoygu, wild nature photographer Sergey Gorshkov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergey Ivanov, film director, screenwriter and producer Timur Bekmambetov, graphic artist Vadim Gorbatov, wildlife photographer Daniil Korzhonov, underwater photographer Sergei Shanin, - are the members of the Jury of the photo contest. By tradition, one of the winners of the photo contest "The Most Beautiful Country" became a jury member. In 2017, it is a wildlife photographer Dmitry Utkin.
After the final meeting of the jury, all works that have reached the final will be posted in the "Gallery" section on the project website. This will be the beginning of an open vote, during which everyone who visits the portal photo.rgo.ru would feel like members of the jury and vote for the photo they like. The work that receives the most votes of yours will be the winner of the "People's Choice Award" nomination, and its author will receive the same award as the winners of the main nominations.
We should remind you that the selection of works is anonymous - examining photos, experts and jury members may see only the pictures themselves, but not the names of their authors.
