A solemn laying of the first stone was held on the construction site of the future "Museum of the Development of the North" In Krasnoyarsk. The complex will be built on the initiative of the RGS Expedition Center in the Siberian Federal District on the island of Molokov, which is located in the central part of the city on the Yenisei River.

Fundamental exposition will become unique archival materials. In addition, probably, one of the exhibits of the museum will also be a C-47 Douglas aircraft, which in 1947 made an emergency landing on the Taimyr Peninsula.

The event was attended by the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Krasnoyarsk City Administration, the Expedition Center of the Russian Geographical Society in the Siberian Federal District (SFD), veterans and many townspeople whose destinies are undivided with the development of the North.

Chairman of the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Victor Tomenko stressed the importance of the project and thanked the Expedition Center of the Russian Geographical Society in the Siberian Federal District for the implementation of major social and cultural initiatives in the region.

According to Igor Spiridenko, head of the RGS Expedition Center in the Siberian Federal District, the Museum of Development of the North will appear on the island of Molokov not by chance. It was here that once the hydrobase of the Krasnoyarsk detachment of aviation of the Main Northern Sea Route was located. "By laying the first stone on the territory of the future "Museum of the Development of the North ", we are giving the debt to those same heroes who stood behind large-scale historical events," said Igor Spiridenko, head of the RGS Expedition Center in the Siberian Federal District.
