Nikolay Kasimov Has Been Awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Voronezh State University

On February 14, a solemn ceremony to award Nikolay Kasimov, First Vice President of the Russian Geographical Society, President of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow Lomonosov State University, an honorary doctorate of Voronezh State University was held.

“We award honorary titles to people who make a significant contribution to the development of their field and higher education. Nikolay Kasimov is a scientist well known both in Russia and abroad. We’ve awarded Nikolai Sergeyevich with an honorable title for his great contribution to the development of environmental and geographical education in Voronezh University," Dmitry Endovitsky, rector of the University, said in his welcoming speech.

Voronezh State University has established long professional relations with Nikolay Kasimov. He has always advised the university on methodology related to educational process. He has been supporting the university in organizing Olympiads on ecology and nature management, as well as various conferences. He is a member of the editorial board of “Vestnik of Voronezh University. Geography: Geoecology”, a university magazine.  

After the ceremony, Nikolay Kasimov gave an open lecture to the university students and staff. The lecture was devoted to the Ecogeochemistry of landscapes.

During his visit to Voronezh State University the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences also looked into the University History Museum and had a working session with Dmitriy Endovitsky, rector of the university, Semen Kurolap, head of the Geography, Geoecology and Tourism Faculty, and Vladimir Fedotov, chairman of the Voronezh branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
