Practical Geography and XXI Century Challenges

The Russian Geographical Society invites everyone to take part in a volunteer program within the framework of the Practical Geography and XXI Century Challenges conference that will be held under the auspices of the International Geographical Union. The conference is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The event will take place June 4-6 in Moscow. 

The event is organized by the International Geographical Union and the Institute of Geography of Russian Academy of Sciences. The conference will be supported by the Russian Geographical Society, the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Rossiysky Uchebnik Corporation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, WWF Russia, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and the Federal Agency of Scientific organizations.  

This is one of the largest events on geography in 2018. More than 600 leading scientists from Russia, China, India, Germany, France, the USA, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Poland, Italy and other countries will attend the conference.

 

The participants will discuss the climate change problems and development of the geographical education. Special attention will be paid to China's "One belt, One road" initiative aimed at improving existing and creating new trade routes, transport and economic ways connecting more than 60 countries of Central Asia, Europe and Africa, which will contribute to the development of trade relations between them and China. In addition, the conference will raise the issue of the geography of urban transformation in the postindustrial context.
