Registration of Venues for Geographical Dictation Extended Until November 10

Venue registration for the Geographical Dictation – 2021 has been extended until November 10 inclusive. Thus, everyone who wanted to, but did not manage to register their event venue, has exactly two weeks.

On November 14, at 12:00 local time, the seventh Geographical Dictation will take place – a large-scale international event aimed at popularizing geographical knowledge and increasing interest in the geography of Russia. In 2021, tasks can be completed in-person or remotely at specialized venues.

In addition, everyone can take part in the Dictation online at On this website, the event starts on the same day as at offline venues (November 14, at 14:00 Moscow time) and will last until 14:00 (Moscow time) on November 24. You can find out your result immediately after taking the test. In this case, preliminary registration is not required.

The number of registered venues has already exceeded six thousand. Traditionally, the venues for the Geographical Dictation are organized in schools, universities, libraries, museums, reserves, and many other places.

Among the registered venues in 2021 are the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, "Leo Tolstoy’s Museum-Estate ‘Yasnaya Polyana’" State Memorial and Nature Reserve, Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park, Wrangel Island State Nature Reserve, Sayano-Shushensky State Nature Reserve, Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts.

Among the locations for the event abroad are the company “ROSATOM Central and South Africa”, the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in France, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation on the Spitsbergen Archipelago, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva.

We remind that any Russian and foreign organizations can register a venue. To do this, you must submit an application on the website All applications submitted before 23:59:59 (Moscow time) on November 10 will be considered.

In the event of a worsening epidemiological situation due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, the in-person venues of the Geographical Dictation will be able to conduct the event remotely. If necessary, the organizers have the opportunity to quickly change the format of the event from in-person to remote.

Venues will be able to hold the Dictation remotely only on November 14, from 12:00 to 13:00 local time. Participants who have pre-registered at a venue will receive a special link. By clicking it, they will have access to everything they need to take the Dictation from home. Thus, the participants will be able to fill out a questionnaire, receive an individual 13-digit number of the form (code); watch a video with a welcome speech from the host of the event, a virtual quiz, and an explanation of the rules, and also answer the Dictation's questions while watching a video presentation.
