Research program on the polar bear inhabiting the Russian Arctic

Nomination: Protection of Rare Animal Species

Goal: To preserve and increase population of the polar bear in the Russian Arctic region.

Objectives:

  • Research the natural habitat of the polar bear in the Russian Arctic.
  • Collect information on polar bear migrations and geographical borders of the polar bear population.
  • Identify and research the factors that negatively affect the well-being of polar bears in the Russian Arctic.
  • Analyze the polar bear’s natural habitat dynamic in relation to global climate change.
  • Develop recommendations for improving the living conditions for the polar bear and for increasing its population in the Russian Arctic region.
