The Russian Geographical Society and the Saudi Geographical Society have signed the Сooperation Agreement. The ceremony took place in Al-ʿUla (Saudi Arabia) on February 11. The document is dedicated to the joint activities of the parties in the field of popularization and development of geography.
The agreement was signed by First Vice President of the RGS, Academician Nikolai Kasimov and President of the Saudi Geographical Society, Dr. Ali Al-Dosari.
The signing took place within the framework of the conference dedicated to the development and conservation of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During the conference, the Russian side shared the experience of cooperation with the organization in the development of natural heritage sites located in Russia.
The Saudi Geographical Society was founded in 1984. Saudi universities used to have many geographic associations, then these associations came together to become the geographical society that joined the International Geographic Union. The headquarters of the society is located at King Saud University (Riyadh). The society is engaged in scientific projects, student research, publishing, and film production.
