The exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society "Languages of the Peoples of Russia" opened on the Arbat in Moscow. The exhibition is dedicated to the International Year of Languages of the Indigenous Peoples - 2019. Its main goal is to draw attention to the possible loss of autochthonous languages and the need for their support.
The exhibition is held in the open air and it presents 30 photos. They depict the peoples of Russia - from the Evenks to the Karelians, from the Tuvans to the Chechens. Visitors to the photo exhibition will see portraits of residents of various regions of Russia in national costumes, as well as get acquainted with the lifestyle of the peoples of Russia - traditional crafts, dwellings, games, cuisine. Each frame is accompanied by information on how to say "Welcome" in the language of one or another people.
The authors of the photoss are Russian photographers, participants in the photo contest of the RGS "The Most Beautiful Country". A photo contest is dedicated to the preservation of Russia's wildlife and the development of a respect for the environment. It has been held annually since 2015. During this time, more than 440 thousand pictures have been uploaded to the photo.rgo.ru project website. Exhibitions of participants' works are regularly held in Russia and abroad.
Residents and guests of Moscow are welcome to visit the exhibition. It works till November 29.
