Four specially protected natural areas of the Altai Republic are waiting for volunteers who want to contribute to the development and improvement of national parks and reserves, observe wild animals in their natural habitat, create vibrant media materials and conduct educational conversations. The Russian Geographical Society invites young people aged 18 to 35 — artists, designers, journalists, photographers, videographers, volunteers with work experience — to take part in Zapovedny Altai Ecovolunteer School.

The Altai Republic is famous for its pristine nature. To preserve and protect natural landscapes, flora and fauna, specially protected natural areas have been created here, occupying a quarter of the region's area. In 1998, the Altai and Katun Biosphere Reserves, as well as Lake Teletskoye, Mount Belukha and the Ukok Plateau were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List under the general name "Golden Mountains of Altai".

Participants of Ecovolunteer School in Altai will get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of the region, take part in educational lectures and perform a number of volunteer work in specially protected natural areas.

Volunteers are expected from June 1 to June 19, 2022 in Sailyugemsky National Park; from June 25 to July 3, 2022 in the Altai State Nature Biosphere Reserve; from July 16 to July 24, 2022 in Ukok Quiet Zone Nature Park; from August 1 to 9, 2022 in the Katun State Nature Biosphere Reserve. Volunteers will get acquainted with local sights, history and culture, as well as contribute to the protection of the nature of the Altai Republic.
