RGS’s Project "Okruzhayushchiy Mir" Wins V.I.Vernadsky Award

The project of the Russian Geographical Society "Okruzhayushchiy Mir" (eng. “The World Around Us”) became the winner of the V.I. Vernadsky National Environmental Award. The jury of the contest recognized it as the winner in the category "Education as a Path to Sustainable Development".

The purpose of the contest of the V.I. Vernadsky Non-Governmental Environmental Foundation is to popularize implemented projects in the field of environmental protection and environmental safety, energy and resource conservation, the development of new technologies in industry (including the energy one), the introduction of the best available technologies, the formation of ecological culture, and the development of environmental education in the interests of sustainable development. The award was established in 2003. It received the name of Vladimir Vernadsky in 2013 in honor of the 150th anniversary of the great scientist.

In total, 374 applications from 66 regions of Russia were submitted for the 21st contest in 2023. The winners of the award were 25 completed projects that have proven their effectiveness and have real practical results.

Based on the jury's decision, the project of the Russian Geographical Society "Okruzhayushchiy Mir" was recognized as the winner in the category "Education as a Path to Sustainable Development". The projects whose educational activities are aimed at an audience of more than 1,000 people competed in it. The award ceremony will take place on December 15 in Moscow.
