The Russian Geographical Society Festival in Moscow

This big event will be held on October 31-November 6 at the Central House of Artists (CHA) in Moscow. Here, with the help of multimedia technology the brightest projects of the Russian Geographical Society will be presented.

Thus, CHA will include exhibits dedicated to archaeological and geographical expedition “Kyzyl – Kuragino”, - said Sergei Shoigu. The aim of this Society’s project is to preserve the objects of cultural and historical heritage in the area where the 400km long railway line that will connect the Republic of Tuva and Krasnoyarsk Krai is being built.

The festival program is diverse and includes photo and film screenings, exhibitions, days of the peoples of Russia and ethnographic activities. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to take a virtual journey around the regions of the country, to participate in a variety of quizzes and competitions and learn about the work of the Russian Geographical Society’s branches in the regions of Russia. For example, using the 3D-pictures of the Society’s partner AirPano one will be able to see natural peculiarities of our country, to find out where the mammoths have gone (thanks to the project of the Yakut regional branch of the Society), and to imagine oneself an archeologist or a marine researcher.

“We will try to make this festival a virtual-cognitive-interactive, so it would be interesting to everybody – to a schoolboy and to a man who is well over 90,” – said Anastasia Chernobrovina.

It is planned to organize several thematic zones: expeditions and research projects, protection of nature and animals projects, and the zone devoted to the Arctic and to the Arctic cleanup program.

In addition, the guests of the Russian Geographical Society will meet representatives of the scientific community and travelers. There also will be master classes held by famous photographers and TV hosts.
