The 16th of December, 2016 it marks 45 years since the start of work of Maria Fedorovna Matveyeva in the Scientific archive of the Russian Geographical Society.
A young graduate of the Leningrad State University came to start her work with the All-Union Geographical Society in December of 1971. The renowned organization has changed its name and status since then, but the Russian Geographical Society has still been the only one place of work of Maria Fedorovna in her record of service. With the only difference that she is managing the Society's scientific archive, and everyone: from the President of the Society to the young scientist, know about her trembling and conscientious attitude to work.

She has been performed as the author of articles and the originator of publications on the history of the Russian Geographical Society many times during the period of her work for the Society. The most important thing is that thanks to her courage and citizenship priceless archive collections were saved in the years, difficult for the Society, and their restoration started further.
Maria Fedorovna is a keeper of traditions, the thread connecting times, and a life of the Russian Geographical Society, saturated with the events and often an exploit, affected her destiny. And she is also a very lively, energetic, interesting and generous person.
