Dear friends and like-minded people!

Happy Birthday to the Russian Geographical Society. It is especially pleasant that the celebration of the Russian Geographical Society has acquired a state character since this year - the Geographer's Day will be officially celebrated in our country annually on August 18, on behalf of President of Russia, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society Vladimir Putin.

In the next year, 2020, the Geographer's Day will coincide with a significant date in the life of the Russian Geographical Society - its 175th anniversary. I would like to urge you, dear friends, to spend the anniversary year so, that it will be worthy of the great traditions of our organization.

Another important date is the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society. Thanks to the Board of Trustees, the Society today implements over 500 projects annually in 100 countries of the world. We are proud that the Russian Geographical Society is a synonym for deep knowledge about our homeland, the highest professionalism and true patriotism. So it was, it is and it will be.

I wish us all to do a good deed for our Fatherland every day, no matter little or large. I wish you health, success and all the best.

President of the Russian Geographical Society

Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu
