During the educational course "School of Security" in Kabardino-Balkaria, the team of the "Altair" Youth Club of the Russian Geographical Society did  summer practice training in the Chegem Gorge. Boys and girls were able to fly a paraglider and walked along one of the most difficult mountaineering routes.

The "School of Security" is organized by the "Altair" Youth Club of Russian Geographical Society in Kabardino-Balkaria together with the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue unit of the Ministry of Emergency of Russia. The school course includes theory and practice lessons on life safety, first aid, rescue on water, during accidents and during fire, work with special equipment and much more. The participants have training classes with rescuers of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue unit of the Ministry of Emergency of Russia.

The camp of the "Altair" Youth Club was set up in the Chegem paradrome area, located in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, almost on the border with Georgia. On the first day the participants leaned how the extreme park worked. 

Paragliding, zip-line, rope-jumping, via ferrata routes - all this is a part of the sports program of the park, with which the representatives of the Youth Club got acquainted not only in theory, but also in practice.

Having put on the safety equipment and having been instructed, under supervision of professionals, the geographers set off along the via ferrata route - a three-kilometer path along the rocky shelf, with ups and downs equipped with safety rails.

Next day the travelers passed along the upper Chegem gorge. The ascent along the side gorge of Shaurut to the glacier of the same name, which gives rise to one of the tributaries of the Chegem River, was the main goal of the hike.

At the first stage of the School of Security, the activists worked out rules for providing first aid for various injuries and learned how to save drowning people. During the second lesson, the participants climbed the highest point in the vicinity of the city of Nalchik - the Narti mountain, to an altitude of 999 meters above sea level. The results of the School of Security will be announced after July 15 - activists of the Youth Club RGO showing special distinction will receive certificates and gratitude from the regional branch of the Russian Union of Rescuers.
