Serbia Celebrates 177th Anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society

The exhibition of the RGS "The Most Beautiful Country" opened in Kalemegdan Park near the walls of the fortress of the same name in the historical center of the capital of the Republic of Serbia. The exhibition is dedicated to the 177th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society and to Geographer's Day, which are celebrated today.

The initiator of the exhibition was the Center of the Russian Geographical Society in Serbia. Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, ambassador of the Russian Federation to this country, Dr. Dušan Bajatović, chairman of the Council of the RGS Center in Serbia, Dr. Miroljub Milinčić, director of the Center, and Vadim Smirnov, deputy general director of “NIS”, which supported this project, spoke at the opening ceremony.

The RGS Center in Serbia organized a series of national and international events dedicated to the Russian Geographical Society. Of particular interest to the public is the exhibition, which contains the best works of the RGS photo contest "The Most Beautiful Country".

To date, the Center has organized a total of 70 exhibitions with 1,300 exhibition days in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. In 2022 alone, 12 exhibitions have been held with a total duration of 270 exhibition days.
