The 3rd of November in the Central House of Artists in Moscow there starts the III-rd Festival of the Russian Geographical Society. This large-scale action will make it possible to understand what way for thousands of years the peoples of our country have been growing and developing in harmony with each other.
One of the sites of the event will be given to graffiti, and the basis for future art objects will be drawings of street art artists.
The Russian Geographical Society announces the beginning of the contest for the best sketch of graffiti. Drawing should be performed by hand in one of the art techniques (pencil, paint, markers, ink and others) and dedicated to the peoples of our country. Scanned images in jpeg format (1920 pixels on the long side) is necessary to must be sent to the email address rgorgo.ru with a note "Graffiti".
Sketches are accepted from September 18 to October 10, after that the working group will select nine best drawings. Their authors will be invited to Moscow to the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society. In the presence of spectators and the press, the finalists will be asked to create paintings by own sketches on specially prepared surfaces in the size of 2x3 meters. Then there will be chosen the winner of the graffiti contest. His painting will become big art-object in one of Russian cities.
We would like to note that since the year of 2016, the Russian Geographical Society has been placing in Moscow thematic graffiti. Thus, at the corner of Arbat and Serebryaniy Lane there has appeared the picture of Polar Owl from the Wrangel Island, created based on the photos of Sergei Gorshkov. And the wall of the house on the Slavyanskaya square, 4/2 is decorated with the a great portrait of the great Russian traveler and anthropologist Nikolai Miklukho-Maklai. In March, 2017 in the capital there appeared "A Little Varg" graffiti on the wall at the entrance of «Tretyakovskaya» metro station with the support of the Moscow Metro.
