Nikolay Drozdov was born in Moscow, into a family of scientists, June 20, 1937. After school he entered the Biology Faculty of Potemkin Moscow City Pedagogical Institute. Then in his second year he transferred to Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Drozdov has worked on the Russian show In the World of Animals since 1977. By that time he had become a candidate of geographical sciences and was teaching at the Biology department at Lomonosov Moscow State University. When he started his career as TV presenter he didn’t left the university and science. In 1979 he became a senior lecturer and later a professor of the Geography Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

5 years before he joined the In the World of Animals show, Drozdov interned at Canberra University for almost a year. During this period he visited various regions of Australia and described this journey in his book ‘Boomerang Flight’.  This book with impressions about Australia of the 1970s is an interesting view of a Soviet man on a faraway country.

That was the first mission abroad of the scientist. He has remembered Australia for the whole life. Nikolay Drozdov often goes to Australia and organizes tours in the style of In the World of Animals for groups of tourists.
