We are inviting volunteers to the «Hogland» expedition

By popular demand the Russian Geographical Society has taken a decision to expand  the age range for participation in Environment Watch within the frames of the «Complex expedition «Hogland» project. Now the young people of age between 18 and 35 years old can take part in the competition.

The first stage of the competitive selection is extended to 15 April 2016 for all who desire to participate - to have time to prepare the necessary documentation.

We remind you, that to take part in the contest, you must individually fill in the portfolio on the website http://volunteer.rgo.ru/ru in the section «Expeditions of the Russian Geographical Society». You may get acquainted with the details of the contest here.

The winners of the contest will be provided the opportunity to participate in one of the environmental changes in the framework of the expedition watches. The participation involves transportation from the place of collection in St. Petersburg to the venue of the environmental watch and back, payment for food and accommodation in the duration of the environmental watch, including a two-day preparatory stage (training).

The volunteers will be engaged in liquidation of consequences of human impact on the natural system of the Big Tyuters Island and the Hogland Island, collection and localization of polluting facilities (dumps, etc.)  for going to the mainland and parsing of potentially flammable forest debris.

Date and venue of the environmental watch:

The first change:

From the 15th of May – to the 17th of May, 2016 - St. Petersburg: a two-day preparatory stage (training);

From the 17th of May – to the 31st of May, 2016 - the Hogland Island and the Big Tyuters Island (The Gulf of Finland).

The second change:

From the 29th of May – to the 31st of May, 2016 - St. Petersburg: a two-day preparatory stage (training);

From the 31st of May – to the 16th of June, 2016 – the Hogland Island and the Big Tyuters Island (The Gulf of Finland).

The project of the Russian Geographical Society «the Complex expedition «Hogland», having been implemented since 2013, aimed at carrying out the extensive research in the field of geography, geology, biology and historical and cultural heritage of the 14 Outer Islands of the Gulf of Finland.
