In the international children's center "Artek" a new profile term of the Russian Geographical Society "World of discoveries" has begun. The children have come to the camp for new knowledge from different parts of Russia.
Teenagers will participate in educational workshops, excursions and lectures in the educational modules: "Geology", "Young polar Explorer", "Geographic equipment", "Geo-journalism".
Training involves a theoretical and a practical part. For lessons tutors have brought a variety of equipment, from roulette to the Arctic tent. In work of the modules the young geographers have already studied to use an instrument for measuring angles in the topographic surveys. Also they have found out the principles of organization of ecological events, have discussed details of Arctic travel, have explored the geological rocks in the "Artek", have collected information for reports about the session "World of discoveries".
Also boys and girls have managed to debate about purposes of geography and to meet with famous researchers. President of the Russian Union of speleologists Gennady Samokhin has told about the caves of the Crimea and about his findings in the expeditions. The senior lecturer of the Department of Geoecology of Tavrida Academy of the Crimean Federal University Gregory Prokopov has spoken about reserved landscapes of the Crimea.
The Russian Geographical Society has been organizing the thematic sessions for boys and girls since 2015. More than 2300 young geographers have had a rest and have got new knowledge in the largest children's centers "Eaglet", "Change", "Artek" and "Ocean" during this time. These sessions are being organized by the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society.
