The specialized session of the Russian Geographical Society "World of Discoveries" has completed its work at the international children's center "Orlyonok". 176 schoolchildren from 41 regions of our country took part in an exciting journey to the magical land of geography. During the three weeks spent at the Black Sea coast, they not only had a good rest and found new friends, but also gained a lot of useful skills and knowledge.

As part of the RGS’s session program, students studied geography and related sciences in depth, the nature of the region, worked with the most modern equipment, went hiking and on excursions, met with famous scientists, travelers, experts.

Young geographers mastered the devices of the mobile laboratory of the Regional Information and Analytical Center for Environmental Monitoring, took a new course "Geoservices for Education", learned about the interregional patriotic marathon of the RGS "Caucasian Frontier – 2023". They got acquainted with the environmental problems of the Black Sea and the peculiarities of specially protected areas of the Krasnodar Territory.

“At this session of the Russian Geographical Society, the students gained experience, made friends, and discovered new abilities in themselves. I am sure there are many more discoveries ahead of them. They will have new opportunities and ways to implement them," said Ivan Chaika, head of the specialized sessions of the RGS in federal children's centers, chairman of the Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

During the session, the students presented their own projects, prepared a video encyclopedia of the camp "Solnechniy" (eng. “Sunny”), attended the screenings of documentaries created with the support of the Russian Geographical Society, saw videos filmed by peers about their small homeland.

At the closing ceremony of the RGS’s session, the best young geographers received awards. Mikhael Arakelov, chairman of the Tuapse District Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, congratulated the students on the successful completion of the program.

“It's nice to see the fire in the eyes of the students, their willingness to continue to create, finding support in others, and to discover. It was this session that gave impetus to many, albeit small, accomplishments. There are so many talented people here!” noted Mikhael Arakelov.

Specialized sessions of the RGS have been held in the All-Russian and international children's centers "Artek", "Orlyonok", "Smena", and "Ocean" since 2015. This is the largest youth educational project of the Russian Geographical Society. More than 6,500 schoolchildren from all over Russia have taken part in it.
